| | Kyoto Now! - Bad Religion | ] | The first rule of my LiveJournal is: don't talk about my LiveJournal. The second rule of my LiveJournal is: don't talk about my LiveJournal. I have no third rule, but now that I have my own LiveJournal, I can be like Flip and Justin; ie: cool. Maybe I too can have friends now. I'll make this first entry fairly succinct--I'll add something deep and meaningful later...when I'm drunk.
For now, I'll write a brief story about my day. I woke up, drove to O'hare Airport in Chicago with my dad, and then flew back to Denver. What was I doing in Chicago, you might ask? I live there sometimes. When I'm not living there, I attend the University of Denver. Why did I go home for Valentine's Day, you might ask? I might ask you why you are asking so many questions, you nosy bastard. Actually, I just don't really feel like discussing my weekend right now. That topic just opens up a Pandora's box of bullshit that I really don't want to go into. So, I guess that makes any strangers who may be reading this think that I'm a depressed, angsty, piece of shit who prefers to drown in my own sorrow then recognize how truly blessed my existence is. Let it be known that I'm not that guy. I stopped being that guy in high school.
Instead, I started being a psuedointellectual, cynical, grouchy, left-wing, sportcoat-wearing, faux hipster. I write songs about love and essays about nuclear proliferation. My dorm room is decorated with Wilco paraphenalia, satirical George W. Bush kitsch, books ranging from Whitman's collected works to a collection of Zinn's essays, and of course I have pictures of old friends. My floor is covered in political pamphlets, several volumes of The Economist, and Foreign Affairs, burned CD's, broken guitar strings, drumsticks, and dirty clothes. I regularly read the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists and Modern Drummer. My two best friends are named Zach and one of them used to be a circus performer. I'm trying to start a webzine with my friend Flip; I write for the Colorado Progessive Jewish News; I intern at the New Voters Project; I work at a day camp in the summer; I use semicolons well. And, believe it or not, I'm a Chi Phi. Got it all figured out? I certainly don't. But that's a start. Enjoy. |
